Pinteresting: Cabinet Organizers

My Mother-in-love is very talented with the sewing machine. She was looking for a new project and possibly a new money maker so she made these organizers to custom fit to my bathroom cabinets. I like to provide toiletries for guests, so this is the perfect place to store them and tell my guests that they can use anything in the organizer. My mother-n-love was inspired by several Pinterest pictures on how to make these. One thing I like that she did different was to make the background fabric match my bathroom decor. I particularly love the polka dots! I am thinking about debuting these in my Etsy store Two Little Sea Stars. Leave me a comment: Would you buy them if you could have them custom fitted to your cabinet dimensions? Would you change anything? Would you pay $10 for 1? Is that too much, too little? Gimme' some feedback! Thanks readers!

Pinteresting: Summer Sunglasses & Salsa

It feels like summer is already here! North Carolina is getting Hot Hot Hot! Check out my hot new sunglasses that I won from CouponTrade and Solstice sunglasses! I also wanted to share my famous (at least around my church) salsa recipe, since I have been trying lots of different salsas lately! Be sure to enter my current giveaway for 4 salsas from Mrs. Renfro's!

Ingredients:
1 32oz cans HUNTS crushed tomatoes (make sure not to get the kind with basil)
juice of 1 lime (I used bottled juice and add about 4 tablespoons)
1 teas salt
1 teas black pepper
1 tablespoon cumin
1 small bunch or palm full of fresh chopped cilantro
2-4 jalapenos (depending on how spicy you want it)
7 cloves of garlic

With a small food processor chop the jalapenos, garlic, and fresh cilantro together until small bits are left. I recommend starting with 1-2 jalapenos and doing a taste test before you add more.

Mix all ingredients in a medium container and serve! This is smoky and tangy, yummm! Be sure to refrigerate!

Pinteresting: Jewelry Organizer

I don't know about you, but my jewelry has been piling up on my dresser, and often where the same things day to day because I have no idea what I have. As a blogger, I often receive great jewelry to review and it then gets added to the pile. I've had one of those jewelry pouches, a compartment box, etc. to try to organize stuff, but as the saying goes: "out of sight, out of mind." I wanted a better way to actually see what I have.

I love pinterest! There have been so many options and ideas for jewelry organizers popping up on boards, that I picked a few favorites and set out to create my own!

To keep the project budget friendly, I frequented goodwill until I found a vintage style frame with some texture. I removed the glass and wrapped a pillowcase I wasn't using around the cardboard backing. This means I can easily change the background if I want! I safety pinned it taunt and then put it back in the frame. I used pins leftover from the flowers at my wedding to pin jewelry in place. I like using the pins because I can keep "sets" on one pin and other matching jewelry close by. I can slide jewelry off the pins to use, or remove the pin to take stuff off, either way. I love being able to see what I have, and it holds a surprisingly large amount of jewelery!

Pinteresting Project: Family Hands Painting

My mother's birthday was a week or so ago and I wanted to make her something special. She has a Family Massage Education Center in Ashland, Oregon where she teaches infant massage, pregnancy massage, etc. to families. When she opened her center she had friends and family put their hand prints on the wall. We haven't been able to visit yet so I wanted to send her our "hands" for her wall until we could come. I found this project on pinterest and thought it would be perfect for doing just that!

Pinteresting: Activity for Toddlers

My son is a bust little guy and he really likes anything new. I thought he would enjoy another take on filling and dumping, a typical toddler activity. Here are a few of our inspirations via Pinterest:

These are two lists for toddler activities both of which can be found under homeschooling on my pinterest page.

Attempt 1:

So first we tried an idea about using a soda bottle with the top cut off and a hole for retrieval, that didn't work to well. He just wanted to dump them back out the way they came not reach in and get them.

He thought is was fun for a little while, but I thought we could make something better.

Attempt 2:

We used an old puffs canister, and this added the element of opening and closing the lid as well. This was a big hit.

Happy Toddler!

Pintersting: One of a Kinds and The Stories Behind

Currently for sale one-of-a-kind at Two Little Sea Stars
I love to make one-of-a-kind pieces for my Etsy shop, Two Little Sea Stars, and for friends and family. Right now I am working on a purple set of booties with flowers on the toes and matching hair clips. Much like a current coral set featured in my Etsy shop. I love that there is always a story behind each one-of-a-kind, and I wanted to share a few of those stories with my readers.

This is my friend Morgan's daughter, who is about to turn 2 and about to be a big sister. I loved trying out this flower block pattern for her baby blanket I sent her. Happy 2nd birthday Hollyn!

This set I exchanged with another vendor at a craft fair this past Christmas for a set of pink skull earrings to wear to Logan's "Lil' Rebel" themed first birthday. She was really excited about giving them to a friend.

This was my second granny square blanket, my first is pictured above. I made this for my friend Ashley's first son, because she choose such unique colors for his nursery. I remember her husband accidentally washed it and when I came for a visit and to meet her baby, I spent some time making repairs.

This blanket I made for my friend Sara's daughter Grace. Sara lives in Chicago and I miss her so much!

This I made for Brittney, my business partner at Two Little Sea Stars. She did a beach themed nursery for her daughter, Ava Grace, and this is one of the items that inspired us to start our business.

Before I had my son I worked for a wonderful family as a nanny. Madison is one of the sweetest baby girls and her parents Brian and Nicole have been a huge blessing to our family, giving Logan many of Madi's baby things. This hat was one of the many ways I have gotten to say 'Thank You'!

While I was pregnant with my son I made him several items. This hat and the two sweaters below.

My husband loved the hooded jacket I made my son so much, he asked me to make him one too. After 13 months, I finally finished it, don't my boys just look so cool?!
